One of the standout projects we have worked on recently was at a commercial space called Hearts and Home. When we first got to the building, it was covered in carpet, a flooring choice that, while soft, was difficult to maintain.
We hear this a lot: “The carpet is impossible to clean!” It collects dust, stains, and just doesn’t hold up well over time, especially in high-traffic areas. We removed the old carpet and began transforming the concrete beneath it into a sleek, durable surface that would be easy to maintain and aesthetically pleasing for years.
The Flooring Process: Step-by-Step
Our process starts with thorough preparation. After removing the carpet, we grind down the concrete for a smooth surface, allowing the new coating to bond securely and share long-lasting results.
Next, we apply a moisture vapor barrier (MVB) to prevent moisture from seeping through the floor. This layer is important in protecting against moisture-related issues that could arise down the line. The MVB, a high-quality amine-converted epoxy, does a stellar job at sealing the floor.
Following that, we apply our polyurea flake coating, which shares both visual appeal and exceptional durability. After the coating cures, we finish with a clear topcoat, complete with an anti-slip agent. This makes the floor slip-resistant and easy to clean and maintain, eliminating the worry of stains or damage.
