One of the standout projects we recently worked on was at a commercial space called Hearts and Home. When we arrived, the building was covered in carpet – a flooring choice that, while soft, was difficult to maintain.
We often hear: “The carpet is impossible to clean!” It traps dust, stains easily, and doesn’t withstand the wear and tear of high-traffic areas. We removed the old carpet and began transforming the concrete beneath it into a sleek, durable surface that would be easy to maintain and aesthetically pleasing for years.
The Flooring Process: Step-by-Step
Our process starts with thorough preparation. After removing the carpet, we grind the concrete for a smooth surface, allowing the new coating to bond securely and deliver long-lasting results.
Next, we apply a moisture vapor barrier (MVB) to prevent moisture from seeping through the floor. This layer is crucial for protecting against moisture-related issues that could arise down the line. The MVB, a high-quality amine-converted epoxy, effectively seals the floor.
Next, we apply our polyurea flake coating, which shares both visual appeal and exceptional durability. After the coating cures, we finish with a clear topcoat, enhanced with an anti-slip agent. This makes the floor slip-resistant and easy to clean and maintain, removing concerns about stains or damage.
